A new, fourth-generation Sportage debuted last year, with a revised exterior on a stiffer, more spacious structure. Advanced driver assistance technologies, significant suspension and steering improvements, and available intelligent AWD vastly improved the Sportage’s driving dynamics. Changes for 2018 are few; autonomous emergency braking, lane departure warning and front parking sensors have been added to the EX Premium and EX Tech trims. Both FWD and AWD models are coupled with a six-speed Sportmatic transmission. The Magna Dynamax intelligent AWD system is available on every trim and features a 50/50 locking centre differential. The system senses, anticipates and optimizes traction requirements for all road and weather conditions. AWD models feature a unique front fascia with a steeper approach angle for increased capability. The LX and EX use a normally aspirated 2.4-litre four-cylinder that produces 181 horsepower and 175 pound-feet of torque. The higher-performance turbo 2.0L four-cylinder found on the SX Turbo makes 237 hp and 260 lb-ft of torque.
